Dr Justin Rubio

Dr Rubio is an R. D. Wright Fellow (NHMRC) and Head of the Neurogenetics Laboratory at the Howard Florey Institute. Previously he was Project Leader of The Genes-CRC Tasmanian Multiple sclerosis project. He has 8 years experience in the genetic analysis of the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) complex in relation to its role in multiple sclerosis (MS). He has published several papers describing the involvement of variation in the class I sub-region of the HLA complex as a susceptibility factor for MS. In February 2007 he gained media attention for the development of a re-sequencing array (The PD GeneChip) for genes associated with Parkinson's disease.
