Progress Report - October 2006

The pilot study conducted at The Alfred  Hospital documented 5 cases and 20 controls.  This number is insufficient for any preliminary analysis, but the process resulted in:

1)   Refinement of the data collection forms for cases and controls
2)   Addition of further rigor into the case definition
3)   Review of the documentation of each case of myocarditis and some of the excluded cases.

Each of these processes is still ongoing.  An electronic database is to be set up for the study.

Research review committee and ethics committee applications have been submitted for several other centres in Victoria. Connections have been made with staff at other centres and  applications are planned for these in the near future.
