Sentinel Surveillance Study
The Sentinel Study is a linked sentinel survey of chlamydia, HIV, syphilis and hepatitis C in Victoria developed by the Burnet Institute and undertaken in collaboration with the Department of Human Services Victoria, the Victorian Infectious Disease Reference Laboratory and the Melbourne Sexual Health Centre. The Clinical Informatics and Data Management Unit (CIDMU) is undertaking data management for this study that will be used to monitor HIV, hepatitis C and sexually transmitted infections incidence, prevalence, risk behaviour and testing patterns in order to inform and evaluate relevant public health strategies.
There are sixteen sites across Victoria actively involved in recruiting participants to the study, with over 35,000 participants having completed sentinel surveys to date.
